The Season, the official magazine of the Auburn University College of Agriculture, claimed first-place honors this summer at the National Agriculture Alumni and Development Association’s awards competition. The award was presented in the magazine competition category at NAADA’s 2016 Annual Conference in Asheville, North Carolina. The Season won over college of agriculture magazines from around the country, including second-place finisher Cornell University.
“This is great news, not just for The Season but for our entire College of Agriculture family,” said Paul Patterson, dean of the college and director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station. “The Season was developed not only to be an informational piece about our college, but a piece to build pride among our alumni, friends, donors, students, faculty and staff.”
The Season editorial staff includes executive editor Josh Woods, senior editor Jamie Creamer, associate editors Mary Catherine Gaston and Paul Hollis, and designer Ashley Wiskirchen. The magazine, which debuted in fall 2015, is published twice a year.
“I’m incredibly proud for this team and the dedication they have shown,” Woods, director of the Office of Agricultural Communications and Marketing, said. “We work for one of the great colleges of agriculture, and that is a true honor for us.
“From the very start, our goal with The Season has been to capture the spirit and pride that run so deeply in this college, while welcoming new members into the Auburn agriculture family.”
The College of Agriculture also won second-place NAADA awards for its Department of Poultry Science annual report, its 2015 Successful Women in Agriculture conference and its 2015-16 donor thank-you materials.
